Board of Directors

FACE operates with a Board of Directors, which is responsible for the overall direction and policies of the school. Typically held in the library or office conference room, all meetings of the Board are open to the public and parents are welcome at any time. 2013 – 2014 Board Minutes


Brenda Connolly, Director and Chairman
Brenda Connolly is the senior effort administrator for the Moffitt Cancer Center. She received both her bachelors and masters degrees in accounting from the University of South Florida, where she was also the team captain of the swim and cross country teams. Connolly has been a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida since 1991. She has provided her green thumb and more as the volunteer leader of the award-winning community garden at FACE. Under her leadership, the garden project has won two grants and currently has more than 35 co-op members who receive fresh, organic vegetables grown, harvested and packaged by FACE students every week.


Kavita Kalidas, M.D., Director
Kavita Kalidas received her medical education beginning at the University of Miami and concluding at the University of South Florida, where she is an Assistant Professor of Neurology; she has medical certifications from the State of Florida, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Headache Medicine. Dr. Kalidas has written numerous articles for medical journals, been an invited presenter at professional conferences and led many research projects. She was elected to first term on August 9, 2012.


Kristin Bold, Director
Kristin Bold is an account executive at WTVT FOX13 Television. Prior to her past six years at FOX Television, she was Director of Sales for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ms. Bold has worked in radio and television advertising sales and management for 21 years in Tampa, Seattle, Spokane, and Atlanta. Bold received a bachelor’s degree in communications and minor in business administration from Washington State University. Her studies included a semester at University of London in 1991. She was also a 2006 graduate of The Tampa Connection.


Laila Elkalza, Director
Laila Elkalza is a Marketing & Communications specialist who has worked with the Ontario Ministry of Education to help promote various educational programs and policies across the region.  She has previously held roles with Environment Canada and the Ministry of Transportation.  Ms. Elkalza has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity on various builds as well as their Interfaith Outreach Committee and with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and Business Management from Ryerson University and has since sought out as many opportunities as possible to give back to the community using her professional skills and passion for helping others.


Ron Sklaver, Director
Ron Sklaver has over 15 years of experience helping organizations realize the benefits of their project and program investments.  Focusing on programs that transform operations to achieve strategic goals, Mr. Sklaver effectively marries these goals to tactical execution.  He has experience in a breadth of industries including manufacturing, defense and business services, and earned his MBA in Finance and Economics from Columbia University.  He also holds the PMP certification and has presented papers on program governance and related topics at numerous professional conferences.


Gregory Eckley, Director
Gregory Eckley is a parent of one of our students. He is currently a Communications Consultant for One Call Consulting.  He is an active Realtor and  a member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Association of Realtors and Greater Tampa Association of Realtors.  Mr. Eckley’s involvement in the community is extensive. He is a former FACE PTO President, TOP Soccer (special needs soccer coach) as well a member of the Tampa Rough Riders serving on their Special Olympics Committee as Co-Chair. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Nova Southeastern University.


Travis Siegfried, Director
Travis Siegfried is a North America Technical Sales Leader at IBM with 15 years experience in the information technology space. Travis has worked at IBM for 10 years supporting IBM Business Partners across the country. He received a bachelor’s degree in Information Science and Technology and a Master’s in Software Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and he is a part-time Information Technology Security Professor at Saint Petersburg College.
